"Hello, guest. Sleeping cell ready. Come, follow, please".

Marbles looks up, half asleep. All the scav pups are already gone, probably taken away by their parents. Now that everyone has gone away to hibernate, the shelter is almost silent. There are only a handful of guards around, walking lightly and keeping their quiet.

The tribe's head merchant has returned to pick Marbles up. They are ready to show her to the room where she'll will sleep this cycle. "Oh, about time…!" Marbles thinks to herself, yawning loudly. The hearty meal from earlier has only added to the drowsiness, and she is happy to finally get some rest.

The walk is not long, but the surrounding corridors turn eerily empty. Each step taken is accompanied by an echo, gently dissolving into the unlit hallways. The area seems to be further away from the main sleeping block, and Marbles wonders if this part of the shelter is unmanned on purpose.

"There, your place of rest" the teal scav points up towards a vertical row of openings, one of them marked with a square symbol. "If need anything, tell guards. Patrol route nearby, they will appear sometimes, easy to find". Marbles nods in understanding.

"Rest well, guest. Until next cycle" says the scavenger, bowing their head and tilting the horns, strings of pearls twinkling in the faint lantern light. They turn away and scurry off quickly, disappearing around the bend.

Marbles climbs up to her sleeping cell. It's spacious, tidy, a little cold. Dust lingers in the air, and it's obvious this space hasn't been used in a while. A spot prepared specifically for her, away from everyone else. Marbles sighs.

The scavengers can't be blamed - she is a stranger to them after all. A creature of her unusual skill is both to be respected and feared. Sleeping here in this dusty room is a reasonable safety precaution. Marbles counts her blessings. A lot of kindness has already been shown to her, with food and shelter.

"It is for the best..."

She takes off her bag, tucks it under her head, and falls into a deep, peaceful sleep.

wow!!! it's been (checks archive) almost exactly a year since i originally conceptualized Link Rot, and since then it's grown into a beast of a story i cannot wait to tackle.

currently i'm aiming for updates once every month/month and a half (with occasional vacations to work on bite-sized projects). i'd like to do more, but i have a job and don't want to burn myself out. for now, i will take things slow B) maybe this will change in the future!

Maddie Tsum definitely goes inside the hat from time to time

The little peanut would constantly follow Riddle around and also his little menace of a Tsum (that is his queen after all)

Maddie would definitely wear his tsum as a hat

one time him and his tsum tried fighting over the last piece of cake Trey made (the tsum won but was only able to eat half of it before Maddie stuffed him in the hat and ate the rest)

ugly cried when they said goodbye to the tsums

Krohn

Besties with his tsum

His tsum is just as joyous as he is and is twice as affectionate

and also just a strong and fast because Krohn Tsum was able to carry Ezmond and run away with him

Krohn had to chase down his own tsum to get Ezmond back

krohn tsum likes it when Ezmond picks him up

had a tearful goodbye with his tsum

Viri

Viri Tsum has twice as much audacity as he does normally

when Azul tried to pet viri tsum it snacked his hand away

Viri Tsum can draw really well despite not having fingers

Viri had to pry his tsum off of kalim cuz he wouldn't leave him the second he saw him

Viri tsum loves Kalim sm and also Kalim tsum

one time Viri was holding kalim tsum and Viri tsum smacked him so he'd let go of kalim's tsum, and then proceeded to snuggle next to kalim tsum instead (he would not let him near kalim tsum

"good riddance" he says his tsum when they had their goodbyes

Leo

definitely made his tsum fight people

his tsum bites,,, a LOT

the tsum will start throwing hands if you go near it

never call it cute or tiny otherwise it WILL start swinging

It once fought Floyd cuz he called it tiny

had to be put on those child leashes because it was just violence wherever Leo tsum went

just waved goodbye to his tsum

Reese

it sits on his head

Reese tsum is fairly calm

sometimes fights with the Alfred Tsum

wanders around by himself a lot

one time Reese tsum came into the gym and was accidentally used as a basketball

he got upset and fought the basketball team, and then after that, just started shooting hoops

Reese tsum is an enigma just like the real one

Alfred

Alfred tsum follows viri tsum around

sometimes even follows big viri around

Alfred Tsum randomly pops up just like the real one

Alfred Tsum fights with Jade Tsum (and also Jade himself)

Alfred Tsum can cook really well despite being a whole peanut

One time Viri walked in his studio and got spooked by both Alfred and his Tsum when he flipped the lights

Ezmond

Ezmond Tsum has just as much of an attitude as the real one

the tsum will slap any and all hands that try to pet and or touch him, he only goes to you and climbs on your shoulders but will not let you touch him (he's like a kitty cat)

threw a fit when rook picked him up to move him

Ezmond Tsum is always accompanied by Krohn Tsum

once climbed on top of big Krohn's head because it's like he's on top of a mountain (small peanut big dreams)

beefed with the real Ezmond while they were making potions because it kept trying to steal the stick they're stirring the cauldron with

Peyn

Extremely chill with his tsum

Same thing with Leo, if you called it cute or tiny it WILL jump you

His Tsum and Leo's Tsum started fighting when they saw each other

Doesn't bite but will punch

Peyn Tsum fits just right in between peyn's horns

one time he was coding, he wanted the tsum to help him code but it ignored him and just binge read the shojou manga under his bed

Pan

you already know bro was beefing with his tsum cuz it kept stealing cater from him

thats like the most mad pan has ever been in his entire life

had to wait for his turn because cater was too busy taking pictures of the tsums

threw his tsum away from cater and he got mad and scolded pan for doing that

snuggled with the Cater tsum when it came up to him (cuz it saw that pan was upset) which made Pan tsum and Cater jealous so they tore them away from each other

pan tsum also stole Pan's headphones once

Lucien

always near malleus and malleus tsum

luci tsum is very bold, quite literally jumped into malleus's arms and snuggled up to him

bit sebek when he tried prying the tsum off malleus

Maddie tsum keeps chasing his tsum

saw malleus tsum first and panicked because he thought malleus got cursed and turned into a bean

had a dilemma if he should also listen to malleus tsum because its still technically malleus and he serves under him

almost died from embarrassment because of his tsum

Imagine laying with your f/o, the day slowly coming to an end. The sun has settled, light gradually disappearing beyond the horizon. Comfortable silence envelops you, the only sound being their gentle breaths. You smile, watching as their chest rises and falls in steady rhythm. Every little shift in their peaceful expression—the flutter of their lashes or the twitch of their eyebrows—fills you with warmth. They subtly shift closer, a content sigh escaping their lips.
